Inuyasha Ichiban Kuji Raffle Plush Banpresto 2002

From my memory, there are 2 Inuyasha Ichiban Kuji raffle sets. The first set has the characters as small sit-down plushies with swinging legs (Inuyasha, Kagome, Sango, Miroku? and Shippo), and I think bags with the characters heads on them, and a Kagome DX plush. I scoured the internet and managed to find pictures of them at animemate.com, so I will post them at the end of this entry for posterity only, I have never owned them except for the Shippo and Kagome DX. Kagome DX is sold, I still have Shippo.

For the series 2 set, I am not sure 100% if it was only this set of 3, but it says very clearly on the tag in kanji as the first grand prize, it is a large Inuyasha, 2nd prize is Sesshoumaru, and 3rd prize is Naraku. These are those 3.

This Inuyasha plush is HUGE and very, very nice. As you can see, over time it seems to have started peeling, but as far and I can remember this only started happening recently. I was not able to keep him stored the same way I did my smaller plushies due to his size, so I think he deteriorated due to that. However, the rest of him is in perfect shape, and, I should just face it, over time most of these will peel after a few decades. I put a ruler on the side to see his size, and here you can see his size in the full Inuyasha plush series picture:

I apologize reposting this image again, but it is rather essential here to show just how huge he is! Also his sword wasn't peeling in this picture :-/ (also you can see that the USA version of Jaken fits in well with the raffle Sesshoumaru size-wise, and Naraku fits in very well with the Rivals set).

I am not sure which way he is supposed to be posed, sword across his front or over his shoulder. I greatly prefer over the shoulder!!

The face is very well done, with a mix of stitching and different colored fabrics. I enjoy that he's got his fang and sideways cocky sneer/smile, and that the yellow of his eyes were stitched so it gives them this shiny more alive appearance.

Also his bow is even stuffed!! The necklace beads are large and strung nicely, he's got his wide sleeves and slits in his shoulder, and the rope across the front has a good texture.

His hand is wrapped around his sword and the fur is swirly and fun!

Next is Sesshoumaru! Larger than a normal DX (by quite a few inches) and equal in quality to Inuyasha. Instead Sesshoumaru's face is fully stitched. His fluffy 'tail' is attached to his hand.

Some back shots and detail. He is set up very similarly to the Rival series plush, except all his details aren't squished together on a tiny frame.

Some details on his front, and his shoes. Part of me is a bit surprised that they made his shoes the same as the Rival series, instead of putting in more detail.

So, the differences between this and the Rival series are the proportions, the colors (and shape) of his facial details, his feet are a better shape, etc..

Lastly is Naraku. Slightly larger than plush of the normal series, but definitely not DX size. His hood is removable which is kinda fun! It's a shame he had to be a raffle prize and not in a normal set, but that's life!

Facial detail without the hood on.

Back without the hood, and an idea of his pony tail (not stuffed, but flat). The baboon hood is simple with iron on decals that seem plastic in base, not like the eyes on his face.

Underneath his cloak! Wearing pants and socks, sandals. Part of the fun of owning a plush that you only see a few pictures of is definitely discovering these small details! What's under the hood? What's under the cloak!?

His back with his cloak on and hood up.

Some tag shots... raffle tags are different than normal tags. The tush tag says 'Ichiban Kuji' on it, indicating that it's a raffle plush, and has the date it was made after 'BP' which stands for Banpresto. The paper tag on the outside indicates the series (Ichiban Kuji Inuyasha Part 2 <copyright Sunrise 2000, that is NOT the date the plush is made>). On the inside of the tag, on the right it indicates the prizes in the set, in this case a Grand Prize (Inuyasha), 1st (Sesshoumaru) and 2nd prize (Naraku). Then it lists the materials. My kanji is spotty so that's the best I can do!

For the Series 1 Raffle set, I found these pictures on Animate.com and am only using them for reference if someone needs information on what the raffle series consisted of ( I do not own and have never owned these except for Shippo and DX Kagome whom I sold):

The tags on these will be similar to the ones on the series 2 plush. If you find a seller that seems to have any of these plush, I would contact them and get images of the tush tags and paper tags to verify. There are a few plushies that are smaller than these so do not confuse them!

I hope this helps anyone seeking information about these plushies!!

Naraku, Inuyasha, Sesshoumaru, Shippo SOLD

Inuyasha Rivals series UFO Catcher Plush Banpresto 2002

This set has to be one of the most sought after Inuyasha plush sets, and always has been. Finally there is a mainstream set that isn't only Inuyasha-Kagome-Shippo-Miroku-Sango. I believe this was also the last main set that wasn't an Ichiban Kuji/Raffle set that was released. If I remember correctly the sets went Series 1, Series 2, Festival, Rivals for the normal sized plush. My memory is fuzzy as to when the DX plush were released inbetween it all.

This set consists of Inuyasha, Kagome, Kikyou, Sesshoumaru, and Kouga. Start with Inuyasha, as usual...

This Inuyasha isn't bad, but I still like the original from Series 1 best of all. What makes this Inuyasha fun is that he comes with Myoga the flea! Right on his shoulder. Certainly a wonderful touch and a great addition to this already diverse plush set.

This greatly reminds me of when he's smooshed flat and is very thin, he needs some blood!! SOLD

Next is Kagome, and for the life of me I can't figure out why this Kagome in particular seems to sell for more than the others. She has a backpack, yes, but honestly her proportions aren't nearly as good at the DX or Series 1 plush. I'm wondering if people just like to have her for competionist's sake for the Rivals set? From what I've seen it does appear to be a boast-worthy set to own, either being hard to obtain, expensive, sought after or all of the above.

She does come with her backpack, though, for what it's worth. It's a covered material like a vinyl plastic, which I think was a bad choice (cracking and peeling over time) as well as I think they could have made it with better construction instead of just pieces glued on. SOLD

Kikyou. Goodness it was hard to sell her. It's not that I love Kikyou's character all that much, but this plush I always felt was brilliantly made. From the seams in her pants to her miku top, to her little shikon no tama. UGH she's so great. SOLD

Also even her front hair pieces coming into the back pony tail, even the bow, all so well done.

Kouga is also fantastic!! so many little details, I love his fur and his face! Banpresto just nailed him. I wish his armor wasn't wrinkled but it may have been just mine.

Even his little tail in the back! His pony tail is stuffed and not flat. Also note his hands are balled up a bit into fists.

Closeup of some details, and little black underwear!! XD SOLD

And, saving the best for last (I'm biased), is Sesshoumaru. I was so over the moon when I originally got this plushie, that one of my favorite characters was treated so well with such great detail. His kimono is great, his armor was well done and his bow/sash is perfect. His big fluffy 'tail' is a good size, his face is lovely. One thing I really appreciate about Banpresto is they didn't go the route of the plastic decal eyes very often. It was usually an iron on fabric, or stitched. This adds longevity and a nice matteness to the face, and I've always associated it with quality. His hands are also balled into fists.

The back of his armor and sash. I actually owned 2 Sesshoumaru... I sold one, and the other I had cut the tag off the minute I got it, as a promise to myself that "This one I keep." So he's been on my desk for some time, unprotected and I haven't really tried to preserve him. Now I note he is peeling in a few spots, yellowed, and has some splotches on his clothes. Time is a cruel mistress. I hope the person who now has my pristine one is taking good care of him!! Not really fun to keep them preserved in special boxes but it certainly does keep them in good shape I must say. SOLD

This set sold for $450 (including Naraku from the raffle set). Kouga and Kikyou I've found have prices that range from $75 up to $120+ depending on the quality and the auction. Kagome and Inuyasha around $40-50 each, and Sesshoumaru ranging from $60-100+ depending on his quality/shape and auction. There ARE (very good) fake Sesshoumaru's out there, and I think that helped lower his price, as well as a USA release of a plush of him (that looks awful in my opinion). I last checked these prices when I sold them, over a year ago. For those looking for this set, BEWARE of the fake Sesshoumaru (I have an older blog post pointing out differences), and definitely look out for any peeling or cracking on the materials!

Inuyasha UFO Plush Festival Series Banpresto 2002

This is a plush set from Inuyasha released by Banpresto in 2002 of the Inuyasha crew in summer festival style. In summer in Japan there are festivals where one may dress up in a yukata or what have you and go have some seasonal merriment. I would have liked it if the guys were dressed for a festival instead of just the girls, but it's still a fun reason to have the girls looking cute. Totally not in cannon, I don't think (I've only read the manga), but nice nonetheless. I don't have a picture of the full set together, for that please see the Inuyasha Series 2 plush entry I made with a picture of all Inuyasha sets together.

Inuyasha is looking good! I like his pose, very cute, hand on his leg and sitting with his legs folded in a way. The fan says 'dog' on it, very appropriate. Again nice quality and no peeling or missing parts. I love that his little ears are sticking up, sometimes Banpresto makes the bangs too big and it covers the ears, but not so here! SOLD

Kagome in her yukata kimono with a little shopping bag! Adorable with her hair in pins and light colors with pink. SOLD

You're thinking it, and I'm going to say it... Shippo's cotton candy is SO CUTE and SUCH A NICE TOUCH!! Ah I just love it!! Nice expression too, just a simple sweet smile. Again his pants are a soft velvety material. SOLD

Miroku is in fine form, and I think his fan says 'wind.' Appropriate for his massive wind scar! I forgot to take a picture of it, but he's also got his little bead bracelet on. A very nice Miroku!

Sango, probably one of my favorites in this set. The colors are just great that they picked for her yukata and the hand holding the pinwheel is very nice. Her eyeshadow is an especially nice touch, and in all I like the feeling from this plushie the best.

Seem to be listed for $25-35/ea on ebay but the ones I sold I sold for $20-22.

Kagome, Inuyasha, Shippo SOLD

Inuyasha Series 2 UFO Plush Banpresto 2002

What a crime, I haven't made entries for all the Inuyasha plush sets. Time to rectify that! My Inuyasha sets became scattered to the wind rather quickly and only partial sets remained. Because of this, I don't have pictures of the full sets together, but I DO have a picture of all the plush together before they were sold in one glorious, massive hoard. HOWEVER... DX Raffle/Ichiban Kuji Kagome is not here as she was sold long, LONNNGGGG ago. Also Jaken and Kirara are USA releases.

Sigh. I miss you first series set.

This is the second Inuyasha main set to be released, and came out in 2002 by Banpresto. The set consists of Inuyasha, Kagome, Miroku, Shippo, and Sango in casual clothes. The only Sango I know of that was released in her fighting outfit was from an Ichiban Kuji set I never managed to get my hands on, very very rare. It was a small plush that had dangly legs and could sit (also in the set were the other members of team Inuyasha, and I believe there were also little plush baggies released with a plush head of each character on top <which I secretly found very creepy>).

On to the set!

Inuyasha. Not sure what he's doing here, but he looks just fine doing it! Please note that it seems to be a common problem with Inuyasha plush that the claw decals on his necklace fall off. There's a few layers going on there, and the top one doesn't seem to like to stay. SOLD

I'll admit it, not my favorite Kagome (I much liked the DX series one with the bow). Kind of seems to me like she and Inuyasha could be put together for a high-five, which would both be uncharacteristic and not in cannon. She's still cute, though! SOLD

Shippo... I'm never sure how to photograph him, his tail is so huge! Lots of more dynamic or 3-dimensional plushies are hard to photograph in my opinion. This Shippo is sitting and if I remember correctly his pants are a soft velvety material. SOLD

Miroku, again, I prefer the Miroku from the first set but this one is nice with his staff. Something to mention is that there are USA plushie companies that seem to straight up rip off Banpresto plush. I recall a Miroku that looks very similarly to this released stateside. The bad part is that even though the Banpresto ones are just prize items and not sold for money (you have to win them in crane games, which could cost 100Y or 300Y depending on the game, and then how many tries you took to win them), the USA ones are and their quality is lower and the materials don't look as nice. So to me, it always feels like a bad knockoff (just my personal opinion, mind you!). SOLD

Sango looking mighty cute! Again photographing her is a tad awkward due to her looking to the side. She's in her traveling outfit which is very well done with colored clothes and layers underneath. I had to add a picture of her back to show the cute bow in her hair.

Tush tag picture for those interested!

From this set I only have Sango left... and when I look in the last Inuyasha storage box I have, it strikes me I have mostly Sango's and Miroku's. What's with that? I love those two. I sold plushies from this set for $18-20 but I see prices on ebay range.

Inuyasha, Kagome, Shippo, Miroku SOLD
